Oltre la fotografia, si parte da essa ma la si supera, non viene più utilizzata come una neutra registrazione della realtà, bensì come una manipolazione di essa. Sulla scia di quello che hanno fatto in precedenza la generazione di artiste Francesca Woodman, Duane Michaels, Sarah Charlesworth e Cindy Sherman, anche l’autrice di quest’opera è soggetto, oggetto autore e regista. Qui sembra essere disegnata la mappa della sua memoria: due piccole foto ricordo sono legate all’altra da un filo che le tiene unite. Credo che la nostra giovane artista ci stia raccontando qualcosa di sé e del suo passato, ci svela il funzionamento del meccanismo mnemonico che regna nella nostra testa.
Beyond photography, we can start from it, but we go beyond it. Because it is not used as a neutral recording of reality, but it is a manipulation of it. In the wake of what the previous generation of artists like Francesca Woodman, Duane Michaels, Sarah Charlesworth and Cindy Sherman have done, the author of this work is subject, author and director. It seems that here it is the map of her memory: two small photo are linked together by a thread. Probably the artist is telling us something about herself and her past, revealing the functioning of the mnemonic mechanism that reigns in our head.
